Last Term, our school embarked on an exciting journey to the historic city of Ile-Ife, a place steeped in culture, history, and natural beauty. The second-term excursion was an unforgettable experience filled with enriching visits to some of the city’s most remarkable attractions.
Ile-Ife: A Glimpse into History and Culture: Ile-Ife, often referred to as the “Cradle of Yoruba Civilization,” is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. Our students had the privilege of immersing themselves in this unique cultural tapestry during the excursion.
Places Visited:
1. OAU Museum:
- The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Museum was our first stop. This museum is a treasure trove of artifacts, sculptures, and historical relics that trace the history and traditions of the Yoruba people. Students marveled at the intricacy of the art and gained a deeper understanding of the Yoruba culture.
2. Zoological Garden:
- Our next destination was the Ile-Ife Zoological Garden, a haven of biodiversity. The students had the opportunity to witness a wide range of animal species, from exotic birds to majestic lions. It was an educational experience, as they learned about animal habitats and conservation efforts.
3. Amusement Park:
- After exploring the cultural and natural wonders of Ile-Ife, we indulged in a day of fun and excitement at the city’s Amusement Park. The amusement park was a hub of exhilarating rides, games, and delicious treats. Laughter filled the air as students enjoyed thrilling roller coasters and merry-go-rounds.
Educational Benefits: This second-term excursion provided students with more than just a break from the routine of the classroom. It offered numerous educational benefits, including:
